Vaccinations and General Pet Care
New clients are always welcome to update or begin their pet’s protection with us. You will be provided with proof of any vaccinations we administer.
Puppies and kittens should begin their vaccinations at 6 to 8 weeks of age and get them monthly until they are 4 months old. After that they require annual boosters.
Rabies vaccinations begin at 4 to 6 month of age.
We are also ready to treat any problems your pet may develop- whether you live near us or are visiting the area. Just call our office for an appointment.

Surgery
Surgeries are performed most week days.
We perform a wide variety of surgical procedures, including, but not limited to, neutering, spaying, declawing, growth removals, abdominal exploratories, as well as some orthopedic procedures.
We offer pre-anesthetic blood work, surgical IV fluids to be administered during the procedure as well as pain medication to go home to keep your pet comfortable during its recovery. Pre-anesthetic testing is beneficial in knowing if there are any underlying problems before we actually administer anesthetics. This would be important for elective surgeries and would help us better make decisions on use of anesthetics for your pet.
Also available is up-to-date monitoring equipment for the safety of your pet, as well as circulating water blankets to avoid hypothermia and aid in faster recovery.
Surgeries may be scheduled by calling our office or using our Registration Forms
Pharmacy
Our well-stocked pharmacy will be able to fill your prescription immediately after seeing Dr. Ackler. Instructions are clearly printed and gone over with you.
We recommend calling ahead to refill prescriptions – it will be waiting when you arrive.
You can also use the Prescription Refill Request form on this website. Fill out and fax to our office at 231-587-1051.
Laboratory and X-Rays
Most testing that your pet will need in order to provide the right treatment can be performed on site at our well equipped laboratory. We have equipment that can analyze your pet’s organ profile, CBC or electrolyte status on site also.
Don’t forget to have your dog tested for Heartworms annually.
We are fully equipped to take and develop x-rays on site. This greatly assists in treatments. We have staff well trained in performing this procedure and soothing your pet during the process.
Hospital Care
Whether for just one night or a longer stay, your pet will get the best care possible in our veterinary hospital.
Administration of medication, fluids and other hospital services are all available.
We have a licensed veterinary technician, as well as several well-trained assistants, to help monitor and take care of your pet while in our hospital.
Dental Care
Why suffer from your pet’s bad breath when something as simple as cleaning their teeth may solve the problem. Teeth cleaning using our up-to-date equipment can be scheduled any week day.
Dental disease is also proven to cause heart problems, septicemias (bacteria in the blood stream), as well as abcesses and sores within other internal organs.
Just like us, pets require annual teeth cleaning and benefit greatly from frequent brushing. If you can see discoloration on your pet’s teeth, then they need to be cleaned.
With every dental, hard calculus is removed from your pet’s teeth with a hand scaler. Then we use an ultrasonic scaler to clean sub-gingivally (beneath the gum line). The teeth are then polished with a flavored pumice to remove any etching that may be on the surface of the teeth. Finally, the depth of any pockets between teeth and gum tissue are measured and recorded for future comparison.
We carry a variety of tools for cleaning your pet’s teeth at home, as well as foods and medications designed especially to keep tartar from building up on their teeth.
Call our office at 231-587-0520 for more information or to schedule a procedure.
